Ever had trouble finding the Social Security office in Tuscaloosa? It’s not easy to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for.
The social security office has a clunky “office locator” tool on their website. It’s almost not worth the trouble. However, if you’re looking for an office other than Tuscaloosa’s you can find their locator here.
How to find the Tuscaloosa Social Security Office
The Tuscaloosa office is located in the Federal Building on University Avenue. If you can see this building, you’re in the right place.
If you need directions, click on this Google Maps link: 2005 University Avenue, Suite #1200, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401.
Enter through the front door, even if you park around the back. Once you go through security, you will take a right. Almost immediately you should see a sign for the Social Security office.
Parking at the Social Security Office
There is a lot of street parking both on the block surrounding the Federal Building and up and down University Avenue. However, most of the street parking is limited to two hours. Parking is frequently patrolled. If you stay longer than two hours you are likely to get a ticket.
Behind the Social Security building there is more street parking that does not have “two hour parking” signs up. There is usually a space or two to be found behind the Tuscaloosa office.
If you’re concerned about finding an empty space or the two-hour limit, you might try the parking garage. The Tuscaloosa parking garage is on the far side of Government Plaza, the park on the Southeast side of the Federal Building. Parking in the garage is free and is not subject to the two-hour limit.
We’re Literally Right Around the Corner
If you’re already a Browne House Law client you know we’re right around the corner from Social Security. You can find our office by walking to the southeast corner of the building. We’re in the brown house, next to the little blue house. Or get here from there using these Google map directions.
If you’re looking for help from a lawyer, give us a call. We’ll sit down with you in person or on the phone and give you a case evaluation. Our office represents claimants at all levels of the process.
We can represent you in a hearing before a local judge. We can also take your case to the Appeals Council. For those cases that were wrongly denied by the judge and Appeals Council, we represent claimants at their next appeal. The next appeal is to the Federal District Court where a federal judge will review the case.
